Golf’n and Goofs!

Posted by on January 26th, 2011

Well folks, golf is back on the mainland after a bit of Hawaiian fun in the sun (well it did rain some but what the hey, even grass skirts look better wet)!  The European Tour fellas also went to do their thang in the middle east, Abu Dhabi Do as it were.  Kaymer look’n like all world in winning again.

Now, in case ya hadn’t heard, read or whatever, there’s been a number of real costly type GOOFs made by some of these PROfessionals in tournment play lately.  I ain’t going into all of’em but suffice it to say, it makes for some form of grins in those of us who aren’t professionals (unless one of’em happened to be in your pick’em in fantasy golf).  There’s more rules in golf than any sport I know of and it’d take a delegation of legal minds just to try and interpret’em some of’em or go along with ya while play’n.  Then of course, there’s those most any golfer probably knows if ya ever played in a tournament or even bet’n in your friendly foursomes.  One very simple way to avoid break’n any rule in regard to the movement of your ball is never ground your club behind the ball at address.  Nicklaus was one who was very careful not to ground his putter!

Rex and Matt have given ya’ll their prognostications on picks for this week at Torrey Pines.  They are both well versed and experienced in their involvement with fantasy golf so you’d be well advised to listen with a good ear.  However, I’m gonna throw a curve atcha that may in fact turn into a hang’n one if I’m wrong.  There’s no question Tiger loves this tournament and more specifically Torrey Pines, as his record well indicates.  I’d be surprised if he finishes this week in the top 5, albeit he has more than a mountain of motivation with Kaymer now pass’n him too in the world rankings.  Aside from the fact he just needs a win more than Hitler needed the Gestapo.  I’ll say this, there’s more than a few young lions on tour now that are very capable of winning and Tiger is not the intimidate’n factor he once was!  Like ole Daddy always said, the proof will be in the pudd’n but in this case it’s in the putt’n!

Also I’d be remiss in not congratulate’n this new fella on the scene named Vegas.  We’ll see how he pans out over the course of the year but he’s a refresh’n young man who just happens to be reside’n in Woodlands, TEXAS!

Ya’ll have a good’n..best to you and yours..I’ll check back in off and on if the good Lord’s will’n and the Creek don’t rise!
