The next 4 days will mark the run for four teams to Houston for next weekend’s Final Four. What where here for is to ignore that crap and tell you merely whose going to make you money. Win or lose? That’s for Doug Gottleib. Here’s where we stand right now:
Bryan: 61-39 SU, 52-46-3 ATS
K.M: 63-35 SU, 57-44-2 ATS
K.M Crapshoots: 12-8
Bryan Crapshoots: 10-5
Roll The Dices: 13-6
Its closing in on year’s end for CBB gambling and per usual, if you were smart enough to roll with us all year, you’ll end up with a profit from either of us if we don’t collapse down the stretch. So here it is, your Sweet 16 and Elite 8 Gambling Plays….
Sweet Sixteen: Bryan:
Florida (-3) vs. BYU: Listen BYU isn’t this good. They’ve been out of this world shooting lately. They’re due to cool off. The mini-break will give Florida just that. Ironically Florida isn’t extremely impressive to me either but they’ll be good enough to cover this small spread vs. a team who finally will succomb to the size advantage the opposition possesses.
Prediction: Florida 83 BYU 75
Butler (+5) vs. Wisconsin: I’m done picking against Butler. They’re like Michael Myers. They just don’t die. Will they win? Who knows. But they can stay within 5, I feel good about that. Prediction: Wisconsin 52 Butler 50
San Diego St. (+1) vs. Uconn: I’ve lost a couple times earlier this year when I took the better team vs. the best player. That’s what I’m looking at here again. I’ll never learn my lesson. Prediction: SDST 65 Uconn 61
Arizona (+8.5) vs. Duke: Screw Duke. We owe them payback for 01′. The Plumlees are tissue-paper soft. Will we win? probably not. Will I be enraged that Duke knocked us out? Of course. But I’ll be damned if I ever pick Duke against us. D-WILL, BRING US TO THE PROMISED LAND!!!!
Prediction: Arizona 78 Duke 74
2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS after Thursday, 2-0 on crapshoots.
Friday
UNC (-4.5) over Marquette: Marquette is teaming with Uconn to show why the Big East was the best conference in CBB. These teams tied for NINTH in the conference. And one is Elite Eight bound, the other a game away. But it ends here. Marquette will lose two of their major advantages in this game against Marshall and Barnes. UNC just survived a down game against Washington. UNC covers here.
Prediction: UNC 77 Marquette 70
Ohio St. (-6) vs. Kentucky: If there were more games to choose from I’d leave this alone. I’d LOVE to play Kentucky here but Ohio St. has been downright dominant and have you seen Kentucky’s frontline? Yikes. I only need to hit one of the 4 Friday games to break even for the Sweet Sixteen. Like my chances. I’m going to roll with the best team in CBB and pray like hell they somehow go out instead on the off chance my Wildcats beat Uconn and advance to the Final Four. Prediction: Ohio St. 80 Kentucky 69
Richmond (+10.5) vs. Kansas: Much like the Ohio St. game, really a tough game to play. I mean, if this game were played 3 weeks ago I’d have laid 20 with Kansas. Fact is I’ve only seen Richmond play about 3 times, all in the past two and a half weeks. And yes, they look good, and yes they can dictate tempo, but they don’t belong on a court with Kansas. Can they stay within 11? I think so. All comes down to whether they can just survive the first 30 minutes. Or will the Kansas bigs bury them?
Prediction: Kansas 67 Richmond 59
VCU (+4) vs. Florida State: Remember what I said about Butler? Yea, well apply that here to VCU. Im not picking against them anymore. They hit for me against Purdue and I fully expect them to cover here, probably win. Does FSU strike you as a cinderella killer? Me either.
Prediction: VCU 57 Florida St. 53
K.M:
SDSU +1 vs. UConn
Yea, screw UConn
Florida -3 vs. BYU
BYU sees it’s first major conference team without the big guy, suffers
Wisconsin -5 vs. Butler
Getting to the sweet 16 is an impressive accomplishment for a bunch of middle age English guys game Jeeves, but it ends here. I’m oddly feeling good about Wisconsin’s chances of winning this region. Maybe I need to lay off the booze…
Duke -8.5 vs. Arizona Oddly, few bets being put down on Duke. Duke will probably foul D-Will out in like 5 minutes with all the bias calls they get. I hate them, but I do love to bet on them for some reason. Probably because they tend to do me right more often then not. I’d like to see Arizona win. But I’d be surprised.
Predictions: All my sides win by enough to cover
1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS, 0-2 on crapshoots.
Records after Sweet Sixteen:
Bryan: 66-43 SU, 57-49-3 ATS
K.M: 64-38 SU, 58-47-2 ATS
K.M Crapshoots: 12-10
Bryan Crapshoots: 12-5
Roll The Dices: 13-6
Butler (+3.5) vs. Florida: Did I not say I was not picking against Butler getting points again? I’m no Ghandi so that may not be entirely true, but I’m keeping my word for this game. Listen, I had this team losing to ODU. They proved me wrong. I had Pitt in FF, Butler proved me wrong. Then last game, I took points but picked Wisconsin. IM DONE. If I’m going to be wrong its not going to be Butler throwing sand in my face again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 4 times, and I’m a &%#$ing moron.
Prediction: Butler 68 Florida 64
Arizona (+3) vs. Uconn: Each of the last two games I thought we had no chance. My boys proved me wrong. Though I picked UofA last game, I didn’t truly believe it. I just refuse to pick Duke. So I’m nervous, because I feel good about this game. Uconn doesn’t scare me like Texas and Duke did. Its going to be a pro-Arizona crowd which I think will help if we start slow. I’ve been saying all year the best player in CBB plays in Tucson, so who better to punch a FF ticket against then one of his two biggest challengers. Lets punch out ticket to Houston boys!!!!
Prediction: Arizona 83 Uconn 78
K.M: Florida -4.5 vs. Butler
I’m a $*&!ing moron. Prediction: DERP DERP DERP!
Saturday Results: I go 1-1 SU, 2-0 ATS, 1-0 on crapshoots, all the while crying in the process. Excruciating loss. K.M goes 0-1 SU, 0-1 ATS, 0-1 on crapshoots.
Sunday:
Bryan:
UNC (+1.5) vs. Kentucky: I’m getting points with UNC? Talk about not needing time to think about this one. John Calipari isn’t a big game coach. Friday was an aberration. UNC wins SU.
Prediction: UNC 79 Kentucky 75
VCU (+11.5) vs. Kansas: I said anything over 8 I was taking. This just doesn’t even seem fair. Kansas is very good, but they can play disinterested at times and hell, at this point, unless a team is drastically better, then the refs will keep it close for TV viewing purposes. The way VCU has been playing, no way Kansas will be able to cover 12 points. Take the points.
Prediction: Kansas 68 VCU 62
K.M:
Kentucky -1.5 vs. UNC
All that Bryan said is true, but here is how I see it. Ohio State was coming off a MONSTER game before the Kentucky game, and Kentucky was good enough to edge them in the rebound game. Now, UNC is coming off a MONSTER performance, and I think Vegas knows they will likely play well below UNC par with this line. I see a very similar performance. I watched UK/UNC in Chapel Hill earlier this year, both teams are better, but UK has some serious advantages. I’ll take the ‘Cats.
Prediction: Roy Williams chokes worse then Cal chokes, a definite possibility.
Sunday Results:
K.M goes 1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 on crapshoots. I got 1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS, 0-1 on crapshoots. Leaving us with Elite Eight totals of K.M at 1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS, 1-1 on crapshoots, and me at 2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS, 1-1 on crapshoots.
Which means we’ll enter the Final Four with records of:
Bryan: 68-45 SU, 60-50-3 ATS
K.M: 65-39 SU, 59-48-2 ATS
K.M Crapshoots: 13-11
Bryan Crapshoots: 13-6
Roll The Dices: 13-6
