How goes it, Darts nation? K.M. back with some more darts for everyone, got a bit busy last night and couldn’t share my picks, but that’s ok, we got so much darts coming your way over the next 4 weeks that nobody is going to mind much. An eventful first round saw Nicholson just miss a bull that would have taken him out of round 1, costing me a profitable day, but Phil Taylor came back from 4-1 down to beat Terry Jenkins 6-4 and preserve our futures bets, leaving us in great shape. We got 4 matches coming your way for Saturday morning, and I got plays for you on three of them, so let’s get this part of the day over with and I’ll update you when the nightcap games are lined.
Wes “The Warrior” Newton (-275) vs. Peter “Snakebite” Wright
Peter Wright looked really good in round one, his 103.26 average then only one that was in triple digits from the first round. Wes Newton, however, had the second highest average, so this game is set up to be a cracker. In a race to 8, doubling and a hot start is going to be vital, and Snakebite was nailing double 12 with ruthless efficiency during round 1. I would have made this matchup nearly even, Wes Newton is a terrific player who deserves seriously Premier League consideration, but Peter Wright is as good as anyone not named Phil Taylor on form. Take the weird haired one with the big plus money.
Pick: Peter Wright +200 (1.5 units)
Prediction: Wright 8-5 Newton
James “The Machine” Wade (-450) vs. Steve Brown and Raymond van Barneveld “Barney” (-500) vs. Scott Rand
Barney looked phenomena in his opening round against Ronnie Baxter. He was destroying the treble twenty bed, and his finishing may not have been up to world class form, but the confidence of Barney looks to be at it’s very highest. Meanwhile, James Wade did what James Wade does, win matches. Steve Brown and Scott Rand both gave very solid showings in the first round, Rand with a 99 average, so I’m hesitant to take either of these guys on the big lines by themselves just in case. However, a parley that pays -210 will allow us both to mitigate loss and combine gain. Let’s toss these two together and make it work.
Pick: James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld parley -210 (2 units)
Predictions: Wade 8-4 Brown, Barney 8-5 Rand.
I’ll be back with more when the rest of the Saturday lines come out!
